Maria Acevedo Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction (91491NSW) (PITC/Randwick TAFE), Junior Coaching Licence (Football Federation Australia).

Maria worked at the University of Newcastle – Ourimbah Campus as a Help Desk/Welfare Officer while raising her two children, now aged 16 and 18. She is a soccer player for the Terrigal Women's Premier League and Coach of the Terrigal Women's under 18's team.
Maria has also participated in amateur dance including Jazz, Latin Hip Hop and Salsa from a young age. Being of Latin American heritage, music Maria discovered Pilates four years ago and became a firm believer in the method after experiencing the benefits first hand. In her pursuit of self mastery she decided to study and complete the Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice through PITC.

Pauline AllisonPauline Allison Dip Dance, Dip Pilates, Advanced Diploma of The Pilates Method (91490NSW).

Pauline has an extensive background in dance and musical theatre and holds a Diploma of Dance from the Victorian College of the Arts. As dance captain of 'Phantom of the Opera' for several years she began Pilates as a preventative and strengthening measure and most certainly considers this a major contribution to extending her performing career. Touring with the Phantom company extensively throughout Australasia also allowed her to work with many well-known pilates practitioners including Megan Williams, Andrew Baxter and Sally Anderson. Her decision to become an instructor was a natural progression, gradually combining two careers and undertaking her initial instructor training with Vass & Shaw Pilates Studio.
Pauline went on to complete an internationally recognised certification through the Body Arts & Science professional program which she has since upgraded to the Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice. Pauline has been teaching pilates for in excess of twelve years and has been a senior instructor for Pilates International for over six years.

Sally AndersonSally Anderson Advanced Diploma of The Pilates Method (91490NSW); Advanced Diploma Management; Cert IV TAE

Sally is the director of Pilates International Pty Ltd, incorporating Pilates International Training Centre (PilatesITC) and Pilates International Studios. Sally holds Adv Dip Pilates, Adv Dip Management, Cert IV Training & Assessment, Certification in Nutrition and is Gold Certified by Pilates Method Alliance (USA). Having started Pilates under international master teacher Rael Isacowitz, Sally became a faculty member for Body Arts & Science in the 1990's and delivered instructor training extensively throughout the world for BASI for many years. On returning to Australia she developed Pilates training programs that went on to become the first ever government accredited courses that PilatesITC now deliver – the Cert IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma Pilates. Sally was founding president of the Pilates Alliance Australasia for ten years before stepping down in 2010, was co-founder of the annual industry conference Mind Your Body, and is a regular contributor to the Sunday Telegraph ‘body + soul’ liftout. www.sallyanderson.co

Elena Berra Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction (91491NSW). Currently completing Advanced Diploma of The Pilates Method (91490NSW)

Elena has been practicing the Pilates Method at Pilates INT since late 2004. Her belief in the benefits of the practice and the visible improvement in her well being, led her to undertake studies with Pilates ITC, successfully completing the course in Pilates Instruction in 2008.
Elena is originally from (Treviso) Italy. After a brief Australian holiday in 2000, Elena decided to return in 2001 and begin a new life in Sydney. Upon completing her diploma studies in Travel & Tourism, Elena worked in the fashion industry for a number of years, before joining her partner in their Architectural Design practice in 2007.
Elena is a Level 1 member of the Pilates Alliance Australasia.

Sonia Crisafulli Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice (91120NSW)

Sonia initially undertook APMA training in the Pilates Method, following which she completed the Polestar Pilates Studio Series. Having worked extensively in Melbourne and Sydney over 2001-2003, she moved to London where she undertook further training with Body Control Pilates UK before moving into a Teacher Trainer role for them. Sonia continued to deliver teacher training and continuing education for Body Control Pilates UK, as well as taking on the role of Studio Manager for that organization. Upon returning to Australia at the end of 2005 Sonia joined Pilates International as a studio teacher and student supervisor, and upgraded her qualifications to the Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice. In September 2006 she was a guest presenter at the Body Control Pilates UK conference, delivering workshops on Pre and Post Natal Pilates, as well as giving an Advanced Matwork presentation. From late 2006 Sonia joined the pilatesitc faculty with a permanent position as Course Co-ordinator commencing from January 2007. Sonia also holds a Bachelor of Dance, and has completed her Pre/Post Natal Specialist Certification from The Center for Women's Fitness (USA). Sonia has also completed the Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction.

Michaela Hill Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction (91491NSW).

Michaela comes from a background of classical ballet and has been working as a professional dancer for many years. She was first introduced to Pilates at the age of 14 due to an injury caused by her intense dance and sprint training regime.
Originally from New Zealand, Michaela moved to Australia at age 17 to establish her career as a professional dancer. After completing two long contracts dancing overseas, Michaela moved to Sydney where she discovered Pilates International. Michaela’s love for working with people and her belief in the benefits of Pilates and the physical changes it brings to people’s everyday lives led her to undertake the Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice through PITC. Michaela teaches at Pilates International Strawberry Hills, Hunters Hill and Pymble studios.

Johanna Irwin Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction (91491NSW).

Johanna comes from a classical ballet, and contemporary dance background. She is a Sydney girl, who attended Newtown High Performing Arts. She was first introduced to Pilates while she was training in full time dance, as well as attending college at New World Performing Arts College in Miami, Florida. She was amazed at the constant ongoing positive effects that Pilates had on her.
Not just the physical effects, but the entire mind body experience. After returning to Australia, Johanna’s passion for dance and movement led her to Pilates International, where she completed her Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice.

Lauren Jones Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction (91491NSW).

After discovering the wonderful benefits of Pilates, Lauren completed her Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice in 2005 and has been part of the Pilates Int team since then. Lauren took a year off to travel and work overseas and since her return has been an integral part of the Hunters Hill team since the studio opened in 2007. As well as juggling her time between the Pymble and Hunters Hill studios, Lauren is also working on a Business Management degree at Macquarie University and upgraded her Pilates qualifications to a Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice in 2009. Lauren is currently a Level 2 member of the Pilates Alliance.

Amitie Kroneis Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction (91491NSW).

Amitie was first introduced to Pilates during her dance training at the Graduate College of Dance. Later, at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, she was given the opportunity to further study pilates, yoga and chi gong, helping her to realise the great benefits of holistic methods.
In 2004 Amitie and her husband moved to Brazil where she taught English and continued her pilates study. Daily practice helped her through a very comfortable pregnancy and speedy recovery. Pilates holds many benefits for both mother and child. In 2007 Amitie and family returned to Sydney where she completed her Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice. Amitie completed her upgrade to a Diploma in 2008 and is currently working on her Advanced Diploma. Amitie is a welcome member of the Pilates Int team at Redfern Hunters Hill and Pymble.

Megan McKnown Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction (91491NSW).

Megan’s passion for working with people led her to study Public Relations at the University of Canberra, where she completed a bachelor degree in Communications in 2005. After two years living in London, Megan returned to Canberra where she began working for the Public Service. Working in a high-pressured job caused Megan a lot of neck and shoulder problems and she found that Pilates offered her a pain-free way to exercise and build strength.
Having practiced Pilates for a number of years, Megan decided she wanted to learn more, in 2008 she undertook the PITC Matwork course with Pilates Canberra. After completing the course she began teaching mat classes on a regular basis. In September 2009, Megan began studying for her Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice Pilates Instruction with Pilates Canberra. Megan moved to Sydney in 2010 where she finished her Diploma with Pilates International. Having completed her Diploma, Megan decided to leave her office job to dedicate her time to helping others through Pilates. Megan is also the training manager Pilates ITC at its new home in Pymble.

Lisa Peresan Cert IV Dance Tuition, Cert IV Assessment and Workplace Training and Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice, Advanced Diploma of The Pilates Method (91490NSW)

Lisa has had a life long involvement and passion for movement. Her life's motto is " use it or lose it!" Lisa was originally classically trained in the Royal Academy of dancing syllabus and started her career as a professional dancer in the commercial genre at the age of 18, working in a musical in Spain. Her work as a dancer kept her traveling for 7 years in Europe and Asia and included work on television, musicals, Chesse Rijst Contemporary Dance Company and at the Lido in Paris.
Lisa first became involved with Pilates in the early 90's when she returned to Australia and became an instructor working at the Body Control Studio for Alan Menezes. It was during this time that she saw the enormous benefits of regular pilates practice and instructed pilates to people like Paul Mercurio. She also taught dance at the new major dance centres including Sydney Dance Company studios, Aboriginal Dance Theatre, Sydney University and Bodenweissers and was involved in writing the jazz syllabus for the Australian Dance Assessment program.
Lisa started her own dance school on the Northern beaches in 1994 and decided to devote her time to the school and her two young children. She started practicing Pilates again in 2003 to help with chronic back problems. In 2005 she applied for and won a scholarship to become a Certificate IV Pilates instructor with Pilates International. Lisa is passionate about Pilates and the benefits it brings with regular practice. She is interested in working with people from all walks of life but has personal experience as a post partum mum, and in working with dancers. Lisa believes you can always improve in what you do and has just completed the Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice ( 2007).

Katie Pratt Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction (91491NSW).

Katie studied at the Northern Ballet School in Manchester and graduated with a Diploma. She is also a qualified Dance teacher in ballet, modern, tap and national dance.
Katie then went on to work for twelve years as a professional dancer and with this came the opportunity to travel the world. Whilst in London and experiencing a dance injury, she started pilates at the Alan Herdman studio which enabled her to prolong her dance career.
When Katie's dance career came to an end, she decided to pursue a career as a pilates instructor. Katie has a Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice and is currently teaching at Pilates International's Redfern and Pymble studios. Katie is also a qualified fitness instructor.

Claire Savage B Des (Arch) Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction (91491NSW).

Claire's interest and love for art and science led her to study Architecture at Sydney University where she completed her bachelor's degree in Design in Architecture in 2003. After working for several years at an Architectural practice in residential and landscape design, she decided to return to her roots in classical ballet taking up vocational and teacher training on Sydney's North Shore. It was during this time that she discovered the Pilates Method and its potential for conditioning dancers and non-dancers alike. Claire completed her Certificate IV with Pilates international in 2007.
"What inspires me about the Pilates method is that Pilates like architecture, examines functional structure, purpose and the aesthetics of design. It engages the mind to inform the body in order to achieve integrity and pleasure within movement."

Sharan Simmons Advanced Diploma of The Pilates Method (91490NSW)

Sharan is a qualified Pilates instructor with Pilates International and has recently upgraded her qualifications to Cert IV in Pilates Instruction. She has been practicing Pilates for almost 10 years.
Leaving a career in Design Education, Sharan moved overseas. She was first introduced to Pilates in the US where she became fascinated with the Pilates method. Sharan was drawn to the precision of the Pilates movements and their power to transform the body. Sharan studied Pilates in Singapore with Pilates International (Sydney) and Polestar. She was instructor in a busy studio in Singapore for 2 years and set up her own Pilates studio in Shanghai when her family moved there. Sharan has recently returned to Australia and is teaching at the Pymble Studio.
Sharan also has a Bachelor of Education in Adult Education and brings her enthusiasm for teaching to her pilates sessions. Sharan is an accredited Level 3 instructor with the Pilates Alliance Australasia.

Simonne SmilesDiploma of Professional Pilates Instruction (91491NSW).

Simonne comes from a background of classical ballet. She was trained at the Australian Ballet School and holds an Advanced Diploma of Dance.  Simonne has danced professionally for various companies including Queensland Ballet, Bondi Ballet, Halberstadt Ballet and Singapore Dance Theatre. 
Simonne was first introduced to pilates in the mid 90's and used it as part of  her conditioning and strength building  program. From there her interest grew, and she began to see the benefits of pilates both in terms of its strengthening benefits and also its therapeutic value as rehabilitation for both body and mind. In 2003 Simonne completed her Mat work Certification and began teaching mat work. 
In 2004 Simonne decided to further her skills and completed  a  Full Certification in Pilates Instruction from Pilates International, training under director Sally Anderson. She has since upgraded her qualification to the Certificate IV. Simonne has taught for 4 years at Pilates International Turramurra plus various pilates studios and dance schools around Sydney. In 2007 she decided to r pursue her interest in dance once again, joining a new venture in Suzhou, China.  Following this Simonne accepted a seasonal position in Gtsaad, Switzerland working in a pilates studio within a 5 star hotel for 3 months.
An amazing international experience. Simonne has also had the amazing opportunity of performing with the Paris Opera Ballet when they were on tour in Brisbane in 2009. Upon returning to Australia Simonne has rejoined the Pilates International team back at Turramurra and is now also working at the Redfern, Pymble and Hunters Hill studios and is a level 2 Instructor with The Pilates Alliance. Simonne has also upgraded her qualifications to a Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice.

Liz Stride dip RBSttc, ARAD, Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice, Advanced Diploma of The Pilates Method (91490NSW)

Liz graduated from The Royal Ballet School Teachers Training Course in London with a diploma. She went on to teach Ballet in England, Germany and Australia.
Liz moved to Australia in 1998 and decided to pursue her passion for Pilates which she discovered the benefits of during her dance training. Liz attained a matwork certification and began teaching Pilates in 2002. In 2004 Liz decided to upgrade her qualifications to a Certificate IV in Plates Instruction and then joined the Pilates Int team in 2005 and has been the studio manager at the Redfern studio since 2006.
Liz continued her Pilates studies by upgrading to a Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice and is on the faculty for Pilates International Training Centre and delivers the Diploma course to students through TAFE. Liz has upgraded to the Advanced Diploma and has also been chosen to study as a master trainer for the new CORE ALIGN Pilates.
Liz is also an instructor at the Hunters Hill studio and is a level 3 Instructor with The Pilates Alliance.

Jen Eldridge Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction, Associate ISTD – Classical ballet (Cecchetti method)

Dance has always been a passion for Jen & after dancing professionally in her 20s she opened a dance school in Newtown & taught classical ballet & jazz for over 15 years.
Jen was introduced to Pilates approximately 12 years ago following a back injury where her physiotherapist recommended Pilates as part of her treatment. It worked & she kept dancing for another 10 years.
Pilates again played a role in her rehabilitation after a second injury forced her to close her dance school. She knows first hand the amazing benefits Pilates can have in strengthening the body & improving posture – she is living proof! The desire to help others inspired her to do the Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction in 2011 with Pilates International.

Tahlei Watson Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction

Tahlei is a former accountant who began practising Pilates in 2007 purely as a method of exercise. She fell in love with the elegance and strength of matwork and began taking studio sessions at the Pilates International Redfern studio to complement her matwork practice. After two years spent living in Spain where Tahlei kept up her matwork practice at home, she decided to return to Australia and transform her passion into a career. Tahlei completed her Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction in 2011 and enjoys teaching both matwork and studio sessions.
Tahlei is a welcome member of the Pilates Int team and is also responsible for our informative newsletters and memos.
