Lauren Jones Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice
After discovering the wonderful benefits of Pilates, Lauren completed her Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice in 2005 and has been part of the Pilates Int team since then. Lauren took a year off to travel and work overseas and since her return has been an integral part of the Hunters Hill team since the studio opened in 2007. As well as juggling her time between the Turramurra and Hunters Hill studios, Lauren is also working on a Business Management degree at Macquarie University and upgraded her Pilates qualifications to a Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice in 2009. Lauren is currently a Level 2 member of the Pilates Alliance.

Lisa Peresan Cert IV Dance Tuition, Cert IV Assessment and Workplace Training and Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice
Lisa has had a life long involvement and passion for movement. Her life's motto is " use it or lose it !" Lisa was originally classically trained in the Royal Academy of dancing syllabus and started her career as a professional dancer in the commercial genre at the age of 18, working in a musical in Spain. Her work as a dancer kept her traveling for 7 years in Europe and Asia and included work on television, musicals, Chesse Rijst Contemporary Dance Company and at the Lido in Paris.

Lisa first became involved with Pilates in the early 90's when she returned to Australia and became an instructor working at the Body Control Studio for Alan Menezes. It was during this time that she saw the enormous benefits of regular pilates practice and instructed pilates to people like Paul Mercurio. She also taught dance at the new major dance centres including Sydney Dance Company studios, Aboriginal Dance Theatre, Sydney University and Bodenweissers and was involved in writing the jazz syllabus for the Australian Dance Assessment program.

Lisa started her own dance school on the Northern beaches in 1994 and decided to devote her time to the school and her two young children. She started practicing Pilates again in 2003 to help with chronic back problems. In 2005 she applied for and won a scholarship to become a Certificate IV Pilates instructor with Pilates International. Lisa is passionate about Pilates and the benefits it brings with regular practice. She is interested in working with people from all walks of life but has personal experience as a post partum mum, and in working with dancers. Lisa believes you can always improve in what you do and has just completed the Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice ( 2007).

Amitie Kroneis Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice
Amitie was first introduced to Pilates during her dance training at the Graduate College of Dance. Later, at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, she was given the opportunity to further study pilates, yoga and chi gong, helping her to realise the great benefits of holistic methods.

In 2004 Amitie and her husband moved to Brazil where she taught English and continued her pilates study. Daily practice helped her through a very comfortable pregnancy and speedy recovery. Pilates holds many benefits for both mother and child. In 2007 Amitie and family returned to Sydney where she completed her Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice. Amitie completed her upgrade to a Diploma in 2008 and is currently working on her Advanced Diploma. Amitie is a welcome member of the Pilates Int team at redfern Hunters Hill and Turramurra.

Sharan Simmons Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice
Sharan is a qualified Pilates instructor with Pilates International and has recently upgraded her qualifications to Cert IV in Pilates Instruction. She has been practicing Pilates for almost 10 years.

Leaving a career in Design Education, Sharan moved overseas. She was first introduced to Pilates in the US where she became fascinated with the Pilates method. Sharan was drawn to the precision of the Pilates movements and their power to transform the body. Sharan studied Pilates in Singapore with Pilates International (Sydney) and Polestar. She was instructor in a busy studio in Singapore for 2 years and set up her own Pilates studio in Shanghai when her family moved there. Sharan has recently returned to Australia and is teaching at the Turramurra Studio.

Sharan also has a Bachelor of Education in Adult Education and brings her enthusiasm for teaching to her pilates sessions. Sharan is an accredited Level 2 instructor with the Pilates Alliance Australasia.

Atlanta Barwick Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice
Atlanta was introduced to the pilates method in 1997 while training to become a dancer. Initially studying ballet at the McDonald College in Sydney she went on to further study ballet and contemporary dance in Vienna, Dresden and Wellington. Since then she has worked with dance companies in Australia and Portugal.

After returning to Australia and recovering from a knee injury Atlanta trained as a pilates instructor and completed her Cert IV accreditation with Pilates International.

Atlanta believes the pilates method can benefit any 'body', she focuses on balancing the strength and centering aspects with release and flow.

Katie Pratt Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice
Katie studied at the Northern Ballet School in Manchester and graduated with a Diploma. She is also a qualified Dance teacher in ballet, modern, tap and national dance.

Katie then went on to work for twelve years as a professional dancer and with this came the opportunity to travel the world. Whilst in London and experiencing a dance injury, she started pilates at the Alan Herdman studio which enabled her to prolong her dance career.

When Katie's dance career came to an end, she decided to pursue a career as a pilates instructor. Katie has a Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice and is currently teaching at Pilates International's Redfern and Turramurra studios. Katie is also a qualified fitness instructor.

Simonne Smiles Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice

Simonne comes from a background of classical ballet. She was trained at the Australian Ballet School and holds an Advanced Diploma of Dance.  Simonne has danced professionally for various companies including Queensland Ballet, Bondi Ballet, Halberstadt Ballet and Singapore Dance Theatre. 

 

Simonne was first introduced to pilates in the mid 90's and used it as part of  her conditioning and strength building  program. From there her interest grew, and she began to see the benefits of pilates both in terms of its strengthening benefits and also its therapeutic value as rehabilitation for both body and mind. In 2003 Simonne completed her Mat work Certification and began teaching mat work.  In 2004 Simonne decided to further her skills and completed  a  Full Certification in Pilates Instruction from Pilates International, training under director Sally Anderson. She has since upgraded her qualification to the Certificate IV.

 

Simonne has taught for 4 years at Pilates International Turramurra plus various pilates studios and dance schools around Sydney. In 2007 she decided to r pursue her interest in dance once again, joining a new venture in Suzhou, China.  Following this Simonne accepted a seasonal position in Gtsaad, Switzerland working in a pilates studio within a 5 star hotel for 3 months.

 

An amazing international experience. Simonne has also had the amazing opportunity of performing with the Paris Opera Ballet when they were on tour in Brisbane in 2009. Upon returning to Australia Simonne has rejoined the Pilates International team back at Turramurra and is now also working at the redfern and Hunters Hill studios. Simonne has also upgraded her qualifications to a Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice.

Maria Acevedo Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice (PITC/Randwick TAFE), Junior Coaching Licence (Football Federation Australia).

Maria worked at the University of Newcastle - Ourimbah Campus as a Help Desk/Welfare Officer while raising her two children, now aged 16 and 18. She is a soccer player for the Terrigal Women's Premier League and Coach of the Terrigal Women's under 18's team.

Maria has also participated in amateur dance including Jazz, Latin Hip Hop and Salsa from a young age. Being of Latin American heritage, music and movement have always been part of her life.

Maria discovered Pilates four years ago and became a firm believer in the method after experiencing the benefits first hand. In her pursuit of self mastery she decided to study and complete the Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice through PITC.

"I always believed that I was physically strong and had good body awareness until I discovered Pilates. Through quality instruction I have learned to balance physical strength with mental focus in order to achieve greater control of my body."

As an instructor, Maria is passionate about helping others achieve the personal transformation and sense of well being that Pilates has given her.

Michaela Hill Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice.
Michaela comes from a background of classical ballet and has been working as a professional dancer for many years. She was first introduced to Pilates at the age of 14 due to an injury caused by her intense dance and sprint training regime.

Originally from New Zealand, Michaela moved to Australia at age 17 to establish her career as a professional dancer. After completing two long contracts dancing overseas, Michaela moved to Sydney where she discovered Pilates International. Michaela’s love for working with people and her belief in the benefits of Pilates and the physical changes it brings to people’s everyday lives led her to undertake the Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice through PITC. Michaela teaches at Pilates International Strawberry Hills, Hunters Hill and Turramurra studios.

Megan McKnown Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice
Megan’s passion for working with people led her to study Public Relations at the University of Canberra, where she completed a bachelor degree in Communications in 2005. After two years living in London, Megan returned to Canberra where she began working for the Public Service. Working in a high-pressured job caused Megan a lot of neck and shoulder problems and she found that Pilates offered her a pain-free way to exercise and build strength.

Having practiced Pilates for a number of years, Megan decided she wanted to learn more, in 2008 she undertook the PITC Matwork course with Pilates Canberra. After completing the course she began teaching mat classes on a regular basis. In September 2009, Megan began studying for her Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice Pilates Instruction with Pilates Canberra. Megan moved to Sydney in 2010 where she finished her Diploma with Pilates International. Having completed her Diploma, Megan decided to leave her office job to dedicate her time to helping others through Pilates.

Johanna Irwin
Johanna comes from a classical ballet and contemporary dance background. She is a Sydney girl, who attended Newtown High Performing Arts. She was first introduced to Pilates while she was training in full time dance, as well as attending college at New World Performing Arts College in Miami, Florida. She was amazed at the constant ongoing positive effects that Pilates had on her. Not just the physical effects, but the entire mind and body experience. After returning to Australia, Johanna’s passion for dance and movement led her to Pilates International, where she completed her Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice.
